As was originally designed, the internet or the World Wide Web was intended to be a colossal hub of information where people all over the world can find the answers to their queries. And it is but there is more – definitely much, much more.

In its initial period of growth, nobody could have predicted that it would affect the way we conduct business. With a massive infrastructure to communicate and connect, the internet’s potential for business is now clearly taken advantage by entrepreneurs and big conglomerates. We are now moving into the cyberspace. The internet can be considered as the most important game changer especially for the small players. Today, even the smallest of businesses is given the same level playing field to capture the global market just like the big global corporations.

In fact, having an internet based business may not be necessary to gain benefits from online marketing as the web has induced many traditional or brick and mortar businesses to have online presence. As Bill Gates had said at the pioneering stage of the internet, “When you are not in the internet, you are not doing business.” For example, a small producer of a local wine or beverage can easily have its own internet facility as a way of expanding its market reach.

Online advertising is all around us on every website you visit there is some sort of tactic to coach us into buying something or some service. At first this is not always apparent and there is a lot of carrot dangling going on as you are gently coached into taking the bait.

Some of the tools that people market through were not essentially designed for marketing. Facebook was established as a social networking site but it is now a great business tool sucking away huge traffic from the Google search engine. The people behind different social media sites are making a killing by selling advertising space and business-wise this probably was their primary objective. This is giving away free services and publishing platforms yet raking in huge returns in the process.

You can indeed be sharing something free with the purpose of generating revenues. As a marketer, you can get involved with article marketing – publishing useful information in different article directories in exchange for the chance to link your sites in the author’s box.

It is always a great challenge in utilizing the power of online marketing. Why is this so? It is because of the changing and evolving nature of doing business in the web. What works today may not be the “in” thing tomorrow. Consider the fact that once a new idea comes into play or a new niche is discerned it is competition could be literally rushing into the highway to snatch a slice of the market pie.

In online marketing, aside from the product or service you are promoting, you must also know what niche you are targeting to as you could not adopt a one-for-all scheme.  Discovering a specific want or need can be your gold mine but know for sure that other marketers will eventually find out about the niche and quickly snatch their own stake on the market. This is actually true in both offline and online marketing.

Remember the days of the acai berry. This product was positioned as a new product that could bring on many health benefits. No one had heard much about it so the competition was relatively small, then every online marketer in the world with any know how jumped on the product as quickly as it became popular. All of a sudden, the product was flooded with the same product just bearing different brands. Right now, it would be difficult to make money from it anymore. This kind of commotion is transpiring everyday in online marketing – well, just like the traditional business landscape. New niches are found and filled up and then a month or two later they are already teeming with marketers.

The landscape of the cyberspace is changing everyday just like a moving and forming clouds. But one thing that will never change is the fact that doing business in today’s environment means you must have a felt presence in the web.

Another Recession Coming? How Not To Get Worried

And so earlier today I was browsing for some little news and what I found is yet another of those doom-and-gloom piece predicting how we might be in for a “double dip” type of countrywide economic recession.

Double dip recession basically means that the first recession we just went through could generate another round of recession due to inability of things to pick up quickly as they should be.

To say it in a nutshell, the consuming public is not adequately confident that the economy is in good and robust shape and so people are expecting the economy to go into a tailspin.  Good but not funny stuff!

I’m sure most people are getting crazy just to think of another recession yet alone losing jobs … but as for me I am not even at least concerned.

Why? Because another round of recession could spell good news for some people…

Yes…I said good news. And it could be good news to you and me.

I know…I know that a lot of people will struggle more if we will have a second recession — and more people are going to lose their jobs… and no I am not really thrilled about that.

Losing jobs is definitely not good news especially if you have your own family and expenses to attend to!

The reason a “double dip” recession could be a good news for some people including me is for one plain reason …

Recession means there will be lots of local businesses — the brick and mortar types — who are looking for additional leads, clients and sales and these businesses are so willing to pay big money to the people who can assist them in that goal.

In fact, you could earn thousands of dollars a month even from just one individual client if you have the correct knowledge and are willing to utilize it.

Local business owners wish to find the bigger market online but are hindered because almost none of them have the idea where to start much more maintaining it.

They don’t know the right ways to get a first page rank on Google for their specific stores or the intricacies of running an effective local lead generation campaign.

And these businesses don’t have the willingness and time to learn how to do these things online.
The best option these offline businesses want to take is to get someone to do that stuff for them. And, of course, they are willing to pay a lot of money.

This is an opportunity that many are describing as the “next gold rush” and although I’ve heard and doubt that before…I am a firm of it this time.

Advertising dollars and clients’ attentions are moving to the Internet — away from the traditional Yellow Pages, magazine ads, and newspapers.

That’s equivalent to billions of dollars jumping away from the conventional type advertising and hopefully towards people like you and me.

Or to put it into another words, these billions of dollars “could” be moving to people like you…if we have the knowledge and some expertise on how to get our share of the money pie.

Let’s prepare ourselves now for the explosion of the online business in response to the coming recession!
